In 1948 the white national party came to power. The had one idea in mind "apartheid". Blacks pretty much had no longer any liberty. The white population in South Africa was a minority compared to the black population. Blacks ended up living in slums called " Bantustans".

- The economy imploded
- The Dutch Reformed Church began to oppose apartheid

- 1994 democratic election with all races voting takes place
